Sirius Expands Autodeal RelationshipsApril 11, 2007
The New York International Auto Show at the Javitts Center in Manhattan became the perfect place to unveil automakers’ latest models and their stepped-up satellite radio relationships. In many cases, that meant standard installation deals and a broadening of existing partnerships.
Sirius Satellite Radio has come forward with a number of deals with existing vehicle partnerships, including those with Bentley, BMW, Chrysler, Ford, Infiniti, Jaguar, Jeep, Land Rover, Lexus, Lincoln, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Rolls Royce, Scion, Toyota, Volkswagen, and Volvo. Although the deals are no all alike, a number of them includes the incorporation of Sirius receivers as standard equipment.
Lincoln models, for instance, will come with Sirius’ standard installation while XM reports having done the same for Lexus and Infiniti. Audi is also on the mix, having Sirius receivers as standard equipment in 2008 S4, RS 4, A6, A8, and R8 models, as well as the Audi Q7 3.6 Premium, 4.2, and 4.2 Premium vehicles. “Audi was an early and significant partner in the growth of Sirius, and we are very pleased that they have decided to make Sirius standard equipment for their customers,” said Mel Karmazin, chief executive of Sirius.
Mitsubishi is also strengthening its ties with Sirius, packaging their receivers as standard equipment on the new 2008 Eclipse Spyder. The service will also be blended into premium audio systems on the upcoming Galant, Raider, Endeavor, Outlander, Lancer, Eclipse and Lancer Evolution models.
